All that I have on the Lion partition is the OS install. Even my Home directory is pointed to that on my Snow Leopard partition.
Do you have "local snapshots" on in "Time Machine"? If so, it creates a hidden folder of saved data, snapshots, and it fills up quickly. You can uncheck it, then delete the hidden folder (I think it was in my Home folder). Local snapshots is still a rough beta, they’re fleshing it out still.
Then you should read the entire thread and see that you are wrong in this thought.
Does the realistic texture show up only in full screen mode, or is it that way all the time? In a window, I think it might be distracting, but in full screen, I don’t think I would mind it.
Last month, CNET’s Brian Tong claimed (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/22/potential-imac-update-to-sandy-bridge-and-thunderbolt-in-4-6-weeks/) to have received information from a source indicating that updated iMacs should debut by the end of April or the first week in May, a window of time that is just now set to open.
It’s such a weird notion, that people can choose their sexual orientation. But then, I don’t believe that’s what many really believe when they say it… instead, I get the vibe that what they mean to say is ‘why can’t you just closet yourself and act straight?’.
Its also a weird notion that sexual orientation is a black and white issue. People gay or straight have sex with others contrary to their orientation all the time. Skin is skin, and the brain, the biggest sex organ in the human body, can be trained and retrained in a million different ways. Whatever turns you on is what turns you on.
A: [Laughter, then Openheimer:] Well, you will have to be redundant and be redundant.
I don’t understand why this post says that Apple is coming out with wireless capabilities to compete with zune – if nobody has wireless out yet, then there is not much a competition. And it certainly isn’t Apple hoping to be the ones to catch up.
At least Apple seem to be avoiding standing still. That’s a good thing as it’s hard to stay at the top of the market forever. Especially when MS are concerned.
Well all those measure are bogus. OS X is far more secure than you can get from that Windows crap.
Thats why Leopard is Vista Reloaded, ver 2.0
Best buy and Comp USA had no clue that new models were released and would not budge in price. I dont know what the apple store policy is.
Shouldnt comp usa and best buy reduce the price of the core solo minis they have left?
you can get them refurbed off the Apple site for less. 479 USD for the old lowend, 649 USD for the old high end.
Our PPD has dropped 20% from the peak, I lost a big unit this week due to a reboot, same old annoying problem…
Can’t wait for Gulftown and GPU3…
I’ve lost 2 big units lately for the same reason, power loss & reboots and another one wasn’t picked up in stats
yeah i’ve noticed the team has been down. again, i believe the less we chat on this forum, the less members will fold. right now, if one of our top users goes down, our whole team does basically.
i think we need to be more involved on here, and more people will fold.
sorry to hear you lost a big unit. yeah gulftown and gpu3 will be great!
It’s hard to stay interested but it really doesn’t take any effort to keep going. Maybe too many discover performance issues after they start and only have their main machine to fold with? Maybe as people get newer machines with multiple cores there will be fewer dropouts due to perfomance problems… which reminds me of one of my pet peeves – everyone talks about how not very many applications can take advantage of multi core machines – multiple aplications CAN take advantage of multiple cores… and thus performance is vastly improved when running many apps. my two cents – get as many cores as you can!
I got a Fusion last year too, and if the Legacy was sold over here I would have had a tough choice! I would have ended up with the Legacy though for the looks. AWD is useless here, so really not a reason to get it.
What a wonderfully US-centric view you have there.
In the UK if you pass your test in an automatic then you are only allowed to drive automatics. I’ve never met anyone who has done this (there must be a few out there though!)
For your sake, Aiden, I hope it does come out
There has been a debate as to whether the MacBook will see ‘merom’ this year, i think that the evidence speaks for itself… …not til next year.
Here is how i see it;
Mac Mini, MacBook White – Consumer models – Core Duo til late this year or early next
iMac, MacBook Black – Bridge between consumer and pro – Core 2 Duo (Possibly not in the BlackBook but perhaps as an option?)
Mac Pro, MacBook Pro – Pro Models – Core 2 Duo
Just my opinion… …what does everyone else think?
I like that it played your videos landscape, though navagation became tricky.
For all its bells and whistles I wouldn’t buy it. Design matters. If it didn’t i’d still be using my anti skip cd- mp3 player. I own a nano and have had every generation ipod except the first and the zune seems like the 1st generation ipod in respect to design and clunkiness. Microsoft should stick with the xbox
The hondas I’ve driven from 02-06 (including mine) have all have very good engaging transmissions.
What’s really happening is MacRumors has a 4000 post limit on its threads; it’s known about this bug for a while yet hasn’t dealt with it. The old C2D MBP thread is almost at 3700 posts now, and Arn is starting to panic… so he’s hoping this will resolve the problem.
I kid, I kid…
This year better be good!
It’s all gone a bit 1984.

Still, it’s good to see other governments taking the point on this. We’ve got enough on our plate as it is.

And what if it did end up in china? Is china going to pre-emptively place cheap toys where they predict me to go next?
This whole thing is massively overblown. There is no evidence this information is ending up anywhere… The information is there for a reason and serves a specific purpose. I am fine with it.
For someone to access it they would have to steal your phone. As others have mentioned if that was the case, for most people the information about cell tower locations you might have been near is the absolute least of your worries.
People have to realize this information is not private in the first place. Your location as you move from public place to public place is not some kind of protected right to privacy. Sometimes I wish it was, but it is not. We have no right or expectation of privacy as we move around the public world.
There are a myriad of ways our public movements are tracked hundreds of times every day as we move about. I really do wish people would spend more time investigating and understanding these issues then just knee jerk flipping out and "demanding" answers. Especially since they don’t even understand the question, so how can they expect to understand the answer?
If this were Google or M$ you apologists would be foaming at the mouth. Nice fallacious argument – just because we can be tracked in our cars with traffic cams, or GPS devices, etc, doesn’t mean this, or those instances are legal.
This is clearly in violation of EU law, for those of you who are interested:
http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/information_society/l14012_en.htm
We should at least be given the choice to opt-out, and the purposes and disclosure policies should be clearly stated, not buried in a 30-page ToS.
Europe has a law against a device you own tracking your movements from one public place to another? That must be tough not to be able to have any GPS devices.
Do you understand privacy? Do you understand what is actually happening with the iPhone and this information? Do you understand the European law you cited?
It seems you do not understand any of those three.
