Shouldn’t it show faster performance for the i7?:confused:

I thught was strange as well at first, but I believe that the comparison is between i5 1st gen vs 2nd gen and i7 1st gen vs 2nd gen.

Perhaps they’re comparing the old i7 to the new i7?

I think Fraaaa is correct. I re-read the quote at the bottom which shows what they compared. They don’t say specifically say how they conducted it, but they say the different models and there are two for each of course. The logical answer is that the i5 got a bigger performance boos then the i7, but Apple should have made that chart clearer and also offered another chart showing how much faster the NEW i5 was to the NEW i7. Having a third chart in the diagram would have easily cleared up any confusion when reading it.:cool:

I have to think this is VERY possible. Why is a num pad even needed in most cases? I know who I want to call. I have their number synced from my address book. I scroll down to their name and press call. No dialing needed.

No keyboard, no trackpad. iPad built-in as horiz touch-surface for configurable keyboard & trackpad area, and instant-access to data on the mac thru iOS + apps. BAM! Crazytime.

There’s more to this than anyone here as realised I believe.

A hundred with 6 zero’s is an awful lot of cash, even for Apple, but what gets me is just how quickly this has been settled.

Before going down that road though, lets understand that fighting this case could have cost Apple between, let’s say half as much and maybe 3 times as much, so it’s a fair gamble. Additionally it seems that Apple have endorsed the creative patent, which may pave the way to creative receiving further license fees of which it seems Apple will receive a share.

The deal also lets creative move into the accessory market with made for ipod and out of the mp3 player market. I don’t know if this is usual but I have an ipod which cost � 270, but I have around � 400 of made for ipod accessories. Perhaps creative will earn more from accessories than their zen. creative have struggled against the ipod, the zune may not have a significant impact on ipod sales but it would destroy the zen.

In many ways it is all the accessories for the ipod that make it so irresistible. creative may not only join the made for ipod market, but enhance it and ultimately benefit Apple. Also whilst not clear here whether the tag is free or not, I believe the made for ipod tag earns apple 10% of sales, which if not free is likely to recover all if not more than the $100 m paid to creative.

Now to the issue of how quickly Apple settled. I have to wonder why Apple could not have hung on for 6 months, offered creative half or 3/4 as much and had their hand snapped off because of creative’s declining situation. Put simply I believe the deal had to be done quickly because Apple are about to announce something big, something that may have made the $ 100m look miniscule.

I was thinking the same thing. Creative was asking for a cease order to stop deliveries from Asia. There must be something on that super transport leaving Shanghai harbor last week.

Is all relative. If you take my home country, it’ll be around $1.32/hour pay for minimum wage. You get 2 weeks vacation and equivalent pay. Oh and down there they treat you like crap because of the infuriating high 35% unemployment rate. So everyone looks out for their job even if it means sucking up.

Here in the US you can fight it. So yeah. Also Europe has more taxes than the US. Consecuently we get taxed even lower than the US. But still $315.50 a month is barely covering cost of living even for my country.

Sure, regardless of the situation in other countries�South America?�the question is whether this is a problem in the U.S. and I think it is, and the comparison of a Swedish company using the US like the US uses Mexico, for cheap labor, should be a wakeup call to the US that our current economic policies are making us Mexico to Europe.

As Ugg pointed out, the ‘right’ has pushed for anti-union policies, including ‘right-to-work’ status for states like Virginia. That said, I don’t think this is a ‘right’ or ‘left’ issue per se, but rather a gleeful removal of worker’s rights to garner jobs�regardless of the health of a community funded by low-wage, short-term positions.

Wow, the dual screen output is what could some day push me over the edge. A 27" display + 2 27" Apple screens either side sounds pretty nice. Still not enough to make me part with my 30" ACD right now though.

Just because the design might be happening at Quanta (still a rumor) doesn’t mean Apple is not doing the designing (if it wasn’t their designs, why hasn’t anyone else been able to make a unibody laptop yet?).

I think the confusion is that most of us (myself included) believe that Apple is designing their hardware in California. Because of that it was a little bit of a shocker to hear that someone in Asia could be designing a case for their new laptops.

It appears that Mr. Kuo has some reliable tipsters in the supply chain and that he might actually have a clue.

One cannot the same thing about Gene Munster, Shaw Wu, or Katy Huberty. Their track record is atrocious and I’m inclined to disbelieve any of their blatherings.

By definition, 10MP phone cannot be as grainy as a 3MP phone. You do realize when someone says 10MegaPixel phone what they mean right?.
10 million pixels per square inch (before the tech police come out, this is a basic definition. I am aware an image does not have to be a square).

its not 10 million pixels per square inch. 10 million pixels is the overall size of the image ie x by y, at about 150-300 dpi, i think, but its defo not 10mp per inch^2
but anything above 3-5 mp in a phone becomes a useless waste because the sensor is stupid small.

I have no idea how this would be useful. Buffer times, connection loss, no WiFi around, these are all problems that will prevent this from working.

What’s wrong with storing music on hard drives locally?

I think the idea is, you could log onto your account from anyone’s iOS device and now you’d be able to play any of your songs.

Also, opens up the door to automatically syncing multiple iOS devices without having to do anything. Add music to your library and now it’s available on all your devices without physical syncing.

It will be interesting to see what Apple’s spin is on this. They’ve invested a ton into this so there has to be a "big thing" that goes with this.

UPDATE: Read some more comments and I have to agree…. this allows people with small storage devices like a 16BG iPad to have access to much larger music libraries and you no longer have to juggle playlists. Smart.

Studios are scrambling and re-evaluating there offers right now to get on board.

I would like to see the break down. Who is buying, how many are the buying each, what are they buying? Seems to good to be true. I am skeptical. May just be a one shot thing, due to curiosity or hype. Let’s see how the do their 2nd week.

The MBA looks good as a netbook. It looks bad as an ultraportable.

MBA and MBP are two different markets.

MBA is for people that want light. MBP is for people that want a full featured notebook.

So you want a big MBA.
